Pittsburgh Pirates

The Pittsburgh Pirates assumed their name in 1890. Their star players in 1900 consisted of Honus Wagner and Fred Clarke. The Pirates achieved three successful pennants in 1901, 1902, and 1903. Pittsburgh Pirates apparel was for sale and worn by all. In 1909, Babe Adams led the Pirates to win their first World Series championship against the Detroit Tigers. Pittsburgh Pirates merchandise was for sale through out the stadium. The Pirates won their second World Series in 1925 against the Washington Senators. The Pirates winning streak ended in the late 1940s and continued into the 1950s. The Pirates finally bounced back in 1960 when they won another NL pennant. Dick Groat received the MVP award that year. The Pirates went on to beat the New York Yankees in the World Series. Millions of Pittsburgh Pirates hats were sold that year.

October 1, 2000 was the largest fan turn out for a regular season game at Three Rivers Stadium. Pittsburgh Pirates jerseys were for sale at the stadium. The Pirates finished the season in 5th place with a 69-93 record. PNC Park became the Pirates fifth home in 2001. Pittsburgh Pirates sweatshirts are for sale all over Pittsburgh.
