“Mommy! They have New York Mets jackets on sale” was my response upon entering Shea stadium for the first time. As a kid I could remember following the greats Dwight Gooden, Gary Carter, Keith Hernandez, and many others. Not to mention those great games like the 1986 World Series. That series was one of the most memorable. Between switching out pitchers from the outfield to the mound(due to lack of players), brawls and peak performances by well known legends like Sid Fernandez, with a dazzling 7th game performance. Darryl Strawberry, bringing the team back into the game. And the toughness of Gary Carter. The 1986 World Series proved to be a series that would go down in ‘great-games’ history.

In those days the pride of the Mets showed through die hard fans attending games draped in New York Mets apparel. Those bright friendly colors of blue and orange covered everything in the stands, from the seats to New York Mets hats, New York Mets sweatshirts in the fall, and New York Mets t-shirts for the spring and summer.

New York Mets Jersys and hats have always been top sellers of Mets memoribillia. Today, you can find New York Mets merchandise everywhere. However, those vintage items may be hard to come by.
